You might consider putting in a little bit better of a bottom?ĭont want that popping out and the guts falling out on the floor while moving it You are so close to the unit, i dont think it would sound bad like that.Ĭan probably de-case a set of powered PC speakers for it? Might be hard to do any decent kind of speakers in the backglass, but you could do them out the sides of the case towards the back Pixio PX160 | 15.6 inch 1080p 60Hz IPS HDR Portable Gaming Monitor ()Ī: JOHNWILL Portable Monitor for Laptop 15.6 inch Mobile TN Monitor 1920x1080P Widescreen Monitor HDMI/USB Speaker Built-in Raspberry Pi PS4 Monitor Portable Display Gaming Monitor PC Monitors: Computers & Accessories ![]() Might be cheaper depending on what you find a suitable laptop screen for, plus controller cost (usually about 30 dollars)ĪSUS MB168B 16" Widescreen Portable Monitor. Or if you can not find any reasonable priced, or do not have one from a dead laptop, you can get one of the add on monitors designed to be carried with laptops, like these. You could use a 15" 16.9 laptop display, just need a controller board (Check that you can get a compatible controller board before buying the LCD) Now since that screen is a 22", a 15" LCD will be a perfect backglass If it takes a normal input, like HDMI, then you dont need any controller I dont know if it takes a normal input? or if the controller is on the android unit Well, you need a video driver board, maybe, for the screen. It already has buttons plugged into a USB encoder, so on the hardware side i presume its just a case of swapping the Android box for the tiny pc? (and popping a monitor on the back as a second screen?) Cheap as chips to pick up refurbished and from the specs they should be able to run both screens. Yeah that's what i was thinking! Rather than a laptop i was thinking of a micro pc from around 2015-16. Video quality not fault of machine, just how it captured If you can get a controller board for the 22" screen in the sharpin, then you just need to like make an addon back box Unless you are looking to stuff DOF and what not into it, most of your work will just be making the cabinet You have to pick and choose sometimes on the VP9 tables, and sometimes you have to delve into your own tweaking You could even do a 2 screen setup and use the laptop as the backglass (NOTE: you may need to defeat the hinge stops if it doesnt open far enough, you can also technically de-case the laptop if you are adventerous)Īnd then any cheap 0 delay arcade controller and buttons set. You could probably use almost any old turd of a laptop with a breathing CPU and no separate GPU and run VP9 very good Still, I suspect i will be asking lots of annoying questions so i apologise in advance! I've built a Pi-based arcade cabinet with a fully customised set of emulators so i'm reasonably aware that a lot of work lies ahead. I've done a bit of plotting around the subject already - I'm aiming for VP9 because it seems to have all of the tables i'm after and because it should run well on an older Thinkpad or other micro pc - but i'm aware there's probably going to be a lot of file/rom hunting and some serious configuration. Consequently, i've decided to rip the kit's still-beating Android heart out and replace it with a mini PC running VP9! It's ok for what it is, but the table choice is limited to what you can find in the official official apps and the TV box that it runs on is a bit ropey. I recently completed our garage family cinema room by furnishing it with a Sharpin pinball kit (bartop style setup, single screen, android based). ![]()
